Floorball has taken new steps in development in China by becoming a school sport in Sanya, a city located at the southern tip of Hainan Island in China. Floorball is now included in the sports program of Sanya Foreign Language School (SYFLS).
The project started in July 2020 when representatives of China Floorball Union (CFU) and Asia Oceania Floorball Confederation (AOFC), Chairman of AOFC Youth Development Mr Ching SJ and vice-president of the CFU Mr Yuan Yongwere invited to SYFLS by the Principal Ms. Zhu Weixue and deputy director Mr Wang Qingguo. The first meeting prepared the ground for further cooperation with floorball.
In August, CFU appointed lecturers to provide floorball training to SYFLS teachers and developed floorball lessons for the school. With support from CFU, SYFLS successfully launched floorball as a school sports program.
– Thanks to the efforts and influence of SYFLS, schools in Hainan are gradually beginning to include floorball in their school systems. Combined with Hainan’s unique geographical advantages and political conditions, floorball can be further developed and strengthened through future international exchanges. With the support and joint efforts of many parties, we see a bright future for Hainan floorball.informs CFU Vice President Mr. Yuan Yong.
As a six-year public school jointly built by Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) and Sanya City People’s Government, SYFLS strives to make the school a multilingual foreign language school and international first class with international exchange. The school wants to be a leader in high quality educational resources.
