Teacher abused students in San Jose bilingual school’s music room: Police


SAN JOSE, Calif. (KRON) – A 43-year-old music teacher has been arrested by the San Jose Police Department on suspicion of multiple counts of sexual assault and of annoying or assaulting a child under 12, the department said in a statement. Press release.

Israel Santiago, of Morgan Hill, Calif., has been charged by at least 10 victims with improper conduct, the news release said. Detectives said students accused him of assaults in the music and music room at Adelante Dual Language Academy in San Jose.

After those reports were forwarded to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, a warrant was issued for Santiago, who was arrested Monday in Morgan Hill by members of the Crimes Against Children Task Force on Silicon Valley Internet/Child Exploit Detail. He was then incarcerated at the Santa Clara County Main Jail.

“Detectives believe there may be additional victims due to the suspect’s position as a music teacher,” the press release read.
